Congratulations! You have been selected to speak at an HDA event. This resource center provides guidance on the various items HDA needs from you to properly market and promote your session, information about what to expect during the session and suggestions for preparing a professional presentation. Please read through this information carefully.
As a speaker there are a number of items HDA needs from you to announce your presence at our conference, prepare your session and to market our event in general. The following items will need to be completed by each speaker:
The remainder of this resource center explains each item in detail. Due dates for these items are based on individual conferences; view speaker due dates.
Your speaker biography should be relatively short, perhaps one to two paragraphs (about 250 words or fewer). This information will be used on the event website and your moderator may use this to introduce you. It is recommended that you write your bio in a manner that will sound appropriate when read aloud. Lengthy biographical information about each presenter is discouraged — you want to give the audience a sense of who you are, your current responsibilities and your credentials, as succinctly as possible. See a sample bio here.
We require a description for your session as well. This should be no longer than about 75 words and should set clear expectations and show the applicability of your session for attendees. Please note HDA reserves the right to edit all materials submitted.
HDA provides an LCD projector, laptop, viewing screen, podium and microphone in each session room at all conferences. If you require additional items for your presentation, please let us know by the appropriate due date.
Every year, thousands of individuals attend HDA events. In addition to the outstanding networking opportunities available at these meetings, attendees appreciate and expect that the sessions they attend will be well planned and thought provoking, with significant take-home value. The following tips and guidelines have been compiled to help you plan, prepare and deliver a professional presentation. Even if you are a seasoned speaker or facilitator, we encourage you to take a few moments to review the contents on the guidelines page.
Social media is playing an increasingly important role in the pharmaceutical industry and more HDA member companies than ever are establishing a presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other social sites. We encourage you to:
