HDA and its primary pharmaceutical distributor members — a critical link between 1,400 manufacturers and more than 180,000 healthcare providers — are continuing to rise to the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Named critical infrastructure by the federal government, distributors are working around the clock to respond to this evolving situation, adapting and adjusting to protect the steady supply of medicines, healthcare products and medical supplies to hospitals, pharmacies and patients, while maintaining business continuity plans to safeguard the health and safety of their dedicated frontline employees. By leveraging strong relationships at both ends of the supply chain, and working in concert with federal, state and local officials, distributors are not only responding to this public health crisis, but continuing the daily work of fulfilling Americans’ everyday healthcare needs.
With the federal government and healthcare supply chain engaged in one of the largest public vaccination efforts in recent memory, HDA members are helping to turn COVID-19 vaccines into vaccinations. As new vaccines and thousands of administration sites come online, distributors’ partnership with the pharmacy community and all existing healthcare channels should be leveraged to ensure efficiency, and ultimately success, in vaccinating as many Americans as quickly as possible.
HDA and our members will continue to coordinate closely with public- and private-sector stakeholders as the situation evolves; this page will be updated as additional information is made available.
