Implementation of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) and the critical work of pharmaceutical distributors are the subject of a guest post by HDA’s Perry Fri on the Healthcare Ready blog. Healthcare Ready is a non-profit supported by both public and private sector partners, including HDA, that works to ensure patient access to healthcare, including medicines, during times of disaster.
In the blog post, Fri — HDA’s EVP of Industry Relations, Membership & Education, COO of the HDA Research Foundation and a member of the Healthcare Ready Board of Directors — notes, "The United States has one of the safest and most efficient pharmaceutical supply chains in the world, and one of the most complex. [Thanks to the DSCSA] — and the collaborative work of pharmaceutical supply chain trading partners and regulators — the supply for medicines is even safer. By 2023, the delivery of medicines as we know it will be transformed because of these efforts."
The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) represents primary pharmaceutical distributors — the vital link between the nation’s pharmaceutical manufacturers and more than 200,000 pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics and others nationwide. Since 1876, HDA has helped members navigate regulations and innovations to get the right medicines to the right patients at the right time, safely and efficiently. The HDA Research Foundation, HDA’s non-profit charitable foundation, serves the healthcare industry by providing research and education focused on priority healthcare supply chain issues.
