ARLINGTON, Va. — The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) released the following statement on distribution industry preparedness for the novel COVID-19 “coronavirus” outbreak.
“HDA and its primary pharmaceutical distributor members are closely monitoring the ongoing spread of the novel COVID-19 ‘coronavirus’ and are prepared to respond appropriately as this public health crisis unfolds. To that end, distributors are working closely with federal and state health officials to facilitate timely information sharing and coordination, communicating with manufacturer partners for any impact to the supply chain, and maintaining active business continuity plans in the event of disruption to operations due to the coronavirus.
“In addition, HDA also is partnering with Healthcare Ready as it tracks global response and humanitarian assistance efforts, monitors supply chain operations, and supports readiness of the U.S. healthcare system. Each day, distributors play a central role in ensuring the safety and security of pharmaceutical supply chain and will remain steadfast in that role, regardless of the circumstances.”
The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) represents primary pharmaceutical distributors — the vital link between the nation’s pharmaceutical manufacturers and pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics and others nationwide. Since 1876, HDA has helped members navigate regulations and innovations to get the right medicines to the right patients at the right time, safely and efficiently. The HDA Research Foundation, HDA’s non-profit charitable foundation, serves the healthcare industry by providing research and education focused on priority healthcare supply chain issues.
