• Rx Supply Chain Progressing on EPCIS Adoption for DSCSA, Yet Challenges Still Remain

  Updated survey data released today by the HDA Research Foundation indicate that healthcare supply chain partners remain in the formative stages of establishing the interoperable transaction data connections required to comply with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) by November 27, 2023. However, some progress has been made since a previous survey conducted last spring.

  The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) applauds the leadership of Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee’s Chairwoman Murray (D-Wash.) and Ranking Member Burr (R-N.C.) for introducing the Prepare for and Respond to Existing Viruses, Emerging New Threats, and Pandemics Act (PREVENT Pandemics Act), a bipartisan public health effort to build stronger national medical preparedness and response systems in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The overwhelming support for the legislation during the HELP Committee markup today, March 15, showed that Congress is making significant, positive steps towards reforms necessary to ensure the availability of lifesaving pharmaceutical treatments and medical supplies in response to future crises.

  The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) honored AmerisourceBergen with the 2022 Distribution Management Award (DMA) in recognition of the company’s collaboration with multiple government and supply chain partners to enable small-practice provider access to the COVID-19 vaccine. The award was presented during the 2022 Distribution Management Conference and Expo in Austin, Texas.
