Developed by the HDA eCommerce Task Force, this electronic data interchange (EDI) transaction set is used to list the contents of a shipment of goods as well as additional information relating to the shipment.

The EDI ASN Ship Notice/Manifest is intended for trading partners that elect to remove DSCSA lot-level data from their ASN (advanced ship notice) implementations now that DSCSA package-level requirements are in full effect. The guide also addresses the U.S. Customs and Border Protection purchaser import notice requirement. It further provides a systematic way to give trading partners advance shipment information, helping them better plan for and automate the receipt of goods.
